Were you injured by a defective product?

On Behalf of | Apr 8, 2024 | Personal Injury

When you purchase a product, you expect it to carry out its functions as advertised. You definitely don’t expect the products that you purchase to cause you physical injuries.

Unfortunately, many people are injured every year in the U.S. by defective products. Anything from vehicles to small toys have the potential to cause injuries when they are defective.

If you have been injured by a defective product, then you may be able to hold the manufacturer, wholesalers and/or retailers to account. Outlined below are some of the more common types of product defects

Defects with the design

Often, a product defect starts straight at the beginning. A flawed design could mean that no matter how high quality the materials that the product is made from, its design remains unsafe.

Manufacturers must carry out tests to ensure that designs on their products are safe, before moving on to production. The end result could be injuries for consumers.

Defects in manufacturing

In some cases, there may be no faults with the design. However, designs have to be manufactured properly to come to fruition. If the design specifies certain materials to be used, but the manufacturer uses cheaper materials to cut costs, then this is a manufacturing defect.

In the event that poor manufacturing results in injuries, a claimant may bring a personal injury case against the manufacturer.

Defects in marketing

Some products cannot be completely risk-free. However, in the case of potentially dangerous products, the marketing must be accurate. For instance, toys unsuitable for children under the age of five because of choking hazards should not be marketed toward children under the age of five.

If you have been harmed by a defective product, then you have several options. Seek legal guidance to find out more.
